What do I know about Google Earth and Voicethread? I know that Google Earth is a program that can show you around the world and you can see other countries, I have never heard of Voicethread till this project. Have I presented material about Google Earth and Voicethread before? No, I didn’t use Google Earth much so I didn’t do much on it and as I said I have never heard of Voicethread till this project. Do I understand what I have to do? Is there anything I don’t understand about this activity? I understand most of it, I think it’s just the Voicethread bit that was a bit confusing.
What skills and knowledge will I be using? I will be using finding skills for the photos, and writing the details, I will be using independence, organisation and
Identify What is the task?
What do I want to accomplish in the Google Earth and Voicethread project? I want to be able to finish on time and be able to look back and see how much work we have done and what we can improve on.
What do I need in order to do this? What materials do I have? What resources do I need? Should I do more research on Google Earth and Voicethread? I need to stay on task, and make sure I complete everything well. I will need my laptop and a memory stick. I do not think I shouldn’t do much research but listen to the tips my teacher tells me. Who will be looking at this work? How can I appeal to other students? My teacher will be looking at this work and people who like to see the sights we have chosen. I can appeal to other students by getting good interesting pictures that can grab the eyes attention.
Are there examples of Google Earth and Voicethread posters or materials that I can look at? Yes my teacher made a quick one showing us what it was to look like on voicethread.
What are the obstacles? What problems may happen? My laptop being at ISS, My partner being sick and having everything on her laptop, the Google Earth acting up, not being able to upload to Voicethread.
Generate How many ideas can I think of?
What aspects of Google Earth and Voicethread interest me? What would I want to see on the project? Google Earth interests me with how it works and who much you need to know to work it, and Voicethread interests me how it can upload pictures and movies and can write and draw. I would like to see Countries that I never have been to, amazing sites that make me saw wow. Places no one has heard of. An interesting slide show, a good presentation that will catch the eye. Consider the advantages and disadvantages of each idea. The country’s is a good advantages because it gives a better understanding of what the countries look like, a disadvantage is getting the photo’s will be hard because most of the amazing photos are student access blocked.
Are there any other subjects to consider? No
What resources (books, websites, etc.) have I been provided with? I have been provided with instructions, Google earth, laptops, emails to do with voicethread and Mrs Beadle’s advice.
What do other people think about this? Do others think I have a good idea? Yes they think it’s a good idea.
Decide Which is the best idea?
Which are the best ideas? Prioritise the 3-5 best ideas.
Countries that make me say wow!
Countries no one has heard of
An eye catching presentation that includes a lot of effort.
Explain your reasons for choosing these. What are the arguments for and against each idea? I chose countries that make me say wow! Because, amazing sites and photos will get you good marks and it makes a really good presentation, but amazing places are hard to find if you don’t know what you are looking for. I also chose countries that no one has heard of because, the project is about site seeing and information about the destination, and a good start is about a foreign places that people would like to know about, but again it will be hard finding a place if you don’t know what it is. Lastly I chose an eye catching presentation that includes a lot of effort, because a good presentation is a good mark which is what we want, but it will be hard to include a lot that will make it great. Which idea is the best one for completing the task? Which idea is best for accomplishing my goal? A good eye catching presentation that include a lot of effort because that is what we want something that will make this project successful.
What is my plan? What are the steps to follow?
Stay on track and organised
Complete tasks well
Make sure I don’t start doing to many things at once.
How will I keep track of my progress? What are my milestones? I will keep track maybe on a list that will have our destanations and when we have completed everything then tick it off. Possible list of steps: ·Research and gather material about my subject. ·Revise material and compose text for poster. ·Create graphics. ·Take pictures. Edit pictures. ·Assemble text and images into poster. ·Review poster and modify as needed.
Part Two – Implementing and Evaluating
TASC Process
Questions to consider
Implement Let’s do it!
Am I making progress through the plan? Yes I am. Am I doing this correctly? You may need to review your goal for this activity. I am pretty sure I am, but I have been a bit disorganise at the first bit.
Do I need to revise my plan? As you continue, you may discover facts that require changing the plan. I do revise my plan sometimes and do change some things but now we are just getting it done.
Am I satisfied with the text/graphics/pictures that I have created? Yes because I know that we are finding good photos and make our slide shows as best as we can.
Evaluate How well did I do?
Did I complete the task as originally set out? Did I solve the problem? Well yes it took me a while to get on track but in the end we solved the problems. Is the text as interesting or informative as intended? I think so we had changed some of it but I think for some, the information was more interesting. Are the graphics and images appealing? Yes, I made sure they were all mostly different.
What have I done? I’ve done quite a lot but Sierra helped a lot. I found most of the photo’s and resized them, and helped a bit with the uploading. What have I done really well? Is there anything that stands out as particularly good? I don’t really know but I think I edited some of the pictures good. Some pictures where a bit dark so I brighten them and I think it made a bit of a difference.
Is there anything that needs improvement? Should I go back and redo anything? I think we were a bit rushed so if we had even more time we could of made it better, I don’t really think we need to redo much though because we worked hard on it.
Am I ready to communicate my ideas or show/display my work to others? Is the project ready to be shown to others? Yes I am ready to communicate my ideas and the project is ready to be showed to others, we finished it and that is what matters.
Communicate Let’s tell someone!
(You may have answered some of these questions early on during the planning stages.)
Who can I tell? Who is my audience? Travellers, Tourists, anyone interested in our destinations.
What is the best way to present this to my audience? Through Google Earth, on a slide show. How do I interest other students in my particular subject? Make sure the places and slide shows are interesting by making it eye catching. Did I include the right text/graphics/images to inform and appeal to other students? Yes I think so because it did make me saw wow and I hope they will have the same experience from I did.
Learn from experience What have I learned?
If I had to start this activity all over again, how would I improve my performance? Would I change my work habits? Would I use a different subject or different design? Would I only make small changes? I would try and be more organise and try hard to get it in on time.
How have I improved since that last time I worked on a similar task? I think I improved a bit but I still think I need to be more organise and just keep going.
Have I learned anything about my subject or about appealing to others or about presenting information? Yes I have learnt about the disasters and the facts about them, even the closest places like the sky tower, had some facts I didn’t know about! Can I use that elsewhere? Maybe if I was doing a mapping then maybe. How has my thinking changed as a result of this work It hasn’t changed much. What skills have I learned and developed? Uploading, saving on Google Earth, finding photos. Can these skills be applied to other subjects/activities? Yes maybe when I would like to add some things onto Google Earth, or Voicethread to share with my friends, and maybe in another subject that includes that sort of stuff. What problems did I have to solve? Were there obstacles in developing ideas, researching material, or presenting the material? How were they overcome? Google Earth was a problem because it wasn’t saving the places, so it took us a while to figure that out. Mrs Beadle showed Sierra how to do it and then she showed me and then it was sovled. How did I use the strengths of others to help me? I didn’t use many people to help me it was mostly Sierra, she really helped with the project and helped put it all together.
